The registered owner of the vehicle must submit/request a change of address.
Within 30 days of establishing residency, notify our office either in person, online through Georgia DRIVES e-Services, by mail, email, or phone.
As a general rule, we accept the following as proof of address:
- Updated GA Driver’s License or ID Card
- Lease, deed or closing statement
- Utility bill (gas, light or water), paycheck stub or bank statement dated within the last 30 days
In Person
- Visit any of our three locations
- Provide proof of new address from the list above
- Must produce valid Georgia Driver’s License or ID card
Mail
Mail in change of address request with the following:
- Owner name
- VIN or Tag number(s)
- Date of birth
- List address currently on file
- List new address
- Provide proof of new address from the list above
Online
Address change requests can be submitted online through Georgia DRIVES e-Services.

Phone
We cannot change an address by phone for someone moving to DeKalb County for the first time. All such address changes must be done either in person, online through Georgia DRIVES e-Services, by mail or email. However, if you are already a DeKalb County resident and have moved within DeKalb, please feel free to contact our office to change your address.
