Homestead deadline April 1

HOLIDAY SCHEDULE: Tax offices will close at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, Dec. 24. All offices will be closed Dec. 25-26 in observance of the Christmas holiday and will reopen on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024.

MAIL SERVICE ALERT: Due to ongoing USPS mail delivery issues, taxpayers may experience delays. Before cancelling a payment, please contact the tax office with payment concerns to avoid NSF and/or late fees.

The deadline to file for homestead exemptions is April 1. Applications received after the deadline will be applied for the following year.

DeKalb homeowners ages 62+ are encouraged to review their exemption status. New for 2024, changes to income limits allow more seniors to meet eligibility requirements for special exemptions. To check your exemption application status, visit the property information page.
