Vehicle emissions inspections are required in 13 metro Atlanta area counties. The program is administered and run by Georgia’s Clean Air Force (GCAF) at (800) 449-2471 or www.cleanairforce.com Georgia’s Clean Air Force (GCAF) recommends testing your vehicle four to six weeks prior to the registration renewal date to allow ample time for any needed repairs and retests.
Which vehicles are tested:
Most gasoline powered vehicles that are less than 25 model years old weighing less than 8,500 pounds are required to be tested annually.
Exempted Vehicles:
Motor vehicles that are less than 3 years old or vehicles 25 years (or older) are exempt from emissions testing.

Late Renewals:
If renewing late for the prior year, emissions testing will be based on that year’s emissions requirements.
Senior Exemption:
In order to qualify for a senior exemption, the follow three requirements must be met:
1. Primary vehicle owner (first listed owner) must be at least 65 years old
2. Vehicle must be at least 10 years old
3. Vehicle must be driven less than 5,000 miles per year
