DECATUR, Ga. – The DeKalb County tax commissioner’s office is collecting food items to support the Atlanta Community Food Bank this holiday season. Customers visiting any tax office location from Nov. 4 through Nov. 21 may participate in the food drive by donating canned or non-perishable food items during office hours.

“Together, we can make a difference for families and individuals who rely on food pantries during the holidays. This food drive will serve many families in need within our community and all donated items will go directly to the Atlanta Community Food Bank,” said DeKalb County Tax Commissioner Irvin Johnson.

The Atlanta Community Food Bank works with nearly 700 community-based nonprofit partners to distribute more than nine million meals across metro Atlanta and north Georgia. These include food pantries, missions, community and senior centers, schools, and healthcare facilities.

Last year, the tax commissioner’s office collected more than 1,400 pounds of food to support the ACFB. The donation provided nearly 1,200 meals for families in DeKalb and neighboring communities.
